Was in air conditioning for most of the day as I ran errands (hooray for AC, thumbs down to errands):
-filled up the gas tank
-dropped by school to pick up some paperwork
-oil change at the car dealer (opted not to get the $700+ suggested repairs. thinking of jettisoning the car altogether…)
-bus passes for kids (geez, they charge each family hundreds of dollars for schoolbus service!)
-art store
The latter was the very funnest errand. Bought some random art supplies for little projects I’ve been dreaming about. Will report back on any success….

Had the most relaxing day today. Well, HOT and relaxing.
Went to the Farmer’s Market this morning. Sweated there on my bike and sweated there on the way back (a miracle, really, that my leg didn’t just suh-lide right off as I was pedaling home given the nearly cup-ful of sweat that had collected in my socket). Brought home about 30 lbs of produce for this week’s enjoyment (yum!).
Then sat on the backporch doing some schoolwork for an hour or two.
Now sitting on cozy chair in my room in my underwear, having just taken a nap in my skivvies given how freakin’ HOT its been today.
Okay, TMI perhaps. Getting clothes on now….
A prayer for you:
“Lead me from death to life, from falsehood to truth;
Lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust;
Lead me from hate to love, from war to peace;
Let peace fill our heart, our world, our universe”

Can you see my blue garden gate in the background??? :)
Moving Update: We are living in a sea of boxes and assorted disassembled furniture. We pick up the keys early tomorrow morning.
Who says moving takes a lot of time? (three cheers for the three day move and can someone please pass the bottle of ibuprofen….!)
Dear People:
I am home now. Arrived late, late last night. Cleaned and returned rental car at lunchtime. Drove more than 2K miles in the past 10 days. Crazy.
Hello friends! A thought for you:
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one…wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket–safe, dark, motionless, airless–it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”
~C.S. Lewis
A photo of John in a tree. He was sitting up there checking his email on his Treo. Just for me he stood up and posed a bit :)
Looking forward to meeting up with John again tonite when he joins me in SLC. Yay!
Do you ever have a day where things are just rosy? Well that’s been my day (and it’s not over yet!!).
Lots of fun conversations with old and new friends, especially feeling the familiarity of Salt Lake City (a place that as home to us for several years). Breathing deeply and just letting it all wash over me. :)
On another note: as I sat in a writing workshop this morning I realized just how much my laptop has become an extension of myself. When I sit with it on my lap I seem much more able to interface with my world. I was a bit troubled by that realization–took it out and examined it for a moment. Wondered if I was missing out on some intimacy by always needing to have my computer (and wireless!) at hand. I may have to experiment with disconnecting myself sometime. But not now (hmmm….do I sound addicted or what?). In some ways I feel as if junebug (my affectionate name for my laptop) has become a kind of prosthetic extension of my self. This blog, too, is a part of that. A way of creating myself through images and text that is wholly me at the same time that it is wholly separate from me….
This lovely little eggplant will make some mighty-fine ratatouille. :)
I don’t know why exactly, but gazing into the sworl of petals on this pale yellow dianthus flower makes me feel so peaceful and relaxed. Serene. And cool.
