Isn’t she just the cutest thing ever? She has the sweetest personality, too. Full of curiosity and coziness. The first to chase all of the cardboard box mice away and oh-so-eager to curl up with anyone who’s taking a nap.
Last night she was the very image of cuteness as she climbed into bed with John and I, formed a soft ball between our bodies and then laid her head on John’s pillow. As if to say, ‘you humans, I do so love you.’

in our neighborhood
I didn’t take this pic myself, but it’s pretty close to what it has looked like outside today. Creepy orange sky, raining ash.
At least the wind seems to have died down.
We are following the ‘rules’–hunkering down inside with windows and doors closed. I went out briefly to put gas in the car ‘just in case’ and found that the power was out in most of the nearby shopping centers–had to go pretty far to find a place with working gas pumps.
Kinda scary.
What about you–are you all okay? Anyone else out there near a fire?

under the weather
I’m feelin’ sick today–a cold/flu thing that’s been brewing for a few days. A bit of a cough, some body aches, a pounding sinus headache.
My right hand, esp my fingers, are really hurting. Translation: not much typing today, I think.

i heart socks
I’m actually not wearing these socks today because I headed over to campus early wearing my typical leather maryjanes (too narrow for fuzzy socks).
But if I was at home and sitting in my cozy chair and reading, these are what I would be wearing on this overcast and drizzly day…. :)
