Shhhh!!!
I love this pic of CatGirl goofing around in the parking lot area of the Huntington Library. She & John opted just to see the “free” part of the grounds when they dropped me off yesterday.

on cats and sitting
We’re now catsitting a rolypoly half-manx kitty that loves snuggles. She’s been keeping John cozy all evening. Lucky us! Now the part-manxies* in the house outnumber (and perhaps outweigh) the part-japanese** members of the family. Mwahahahaah!
Quocunque Jeceris Stabit, my friends….
*My Mom’s family is Manx
**John’s Mom’s family is Japanese -
Mrs. Robinson, you’re trying to seduce me…aren’t you?
John and me, having fun with the camera…
(see the original here)PS: John not only looks like Keanu, but I think he does a fine Dustin Hoffman, too.

Life Mimics Art
John just reminded me of this picture and I’d forgotten how much a love it! My kids are standing in a famous museum–does anyone know which one?
I love that you can see a Harry Potter book under GameBoy’s arm and a sketchpad in CatGirl’s. That speaks volumes about their personalities.

with all your heart
“Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it.”
~BuddhaPhoto is of a “Pure Perfume” rose unfolding in my garden. I have a whole cluster of these roses sitting in a vase in my kitchen windowsill and they give off such a gorgeous grapefruity aroma.

because it’s all about me
For those of you dropping by from dooce.com, welcome! :)
Like Heather, I was raised Mormon, grew up in the South, and am married to Jo(h)n. Unlike Heather, I’m a hippie Quaker living in the OC with my two teenage kids (CatGirl and GameBoy).
Twenty-five years ago I lost my right leg to bone cancer. Five months ago I got an antibiotic-resistant infection in my lower left leg, and I’ve been fighting to keep that one ever since.
I like gardening, cabaret punk, and my favorite black sweater. I tend to find the oddest things in my cleavage.

Foray
This was my first foray out of the house, hospital, or clinic in over three weeks. It was well worth the effort. :)
