Call me Lily

You Are A Lily

You are a nurturer and all around natural therapist.
People see you as their rock. And they are able to depend on you.
You are a soothing influence. You can make people feel better with a few words.
Your caring has more of an impact than even you realize.
What Flower Are You?

busy as a bee

Photo: side view of a purple flower with a bee sitting on it.

Life is so full, isn’t it? I’m enjoying my kids’ first few days of summer and all the gifts that come with more discretionary time. Oddly enough, it seems that we are just as busy as ever, though. :)

Oh, and my toes are nearly better–more the pale purple color of this flower and less the deep purples as when I first broke them. It’s been nice to get around with less pain, even though I did overdo things a bit on Tuesday when I strolled the grounds of the Huntington Library and snapped this photo. I paid for it yesterday by feeling rather achy and sore and being a bit grumpier than usual–but it was surely worth it. :)

Note: Can I just say that the Huntington is the best of both worlds for me–an awesome archive chock-full of great resources for my dissertation, then these beautiful grounds/gardens to inspire and enliven my spirit. I feel so lucky!

About Me

About Me

Hi there friend, and welcome to my blog. I started writing on the internet two decades ago. Since then I've started and finished a PhD program, left the Mormon church and became a Quaker, got divorced, remarried, found full-time work in academia, took up rock climbing and outrigger canoeing, and traveled across the globe (China! Belgium! Italy! Chicago! Montana! Portland! Gettysburg! and oh-so-many points in-between). This blog is eclectic and random--it has poetry and cooking and books. And cats. And flowers. And the ocean (my ocean). But in that sense it's a good reflection of me and my wide-ranging, far-reaching, magpie curiosity.
