  • short shameful confession #4

I was thinking that my neighbors had been cooking something particularly stinky for dinner tonite and I was getting rather annoyed by the strength of the smell.

Until I realized that the discomfiting stench was actually a piece of salmon that had fallen in my cleavage while I was eating my own dinner.

    bleh.

This hippie girl just bought herself an air conditioner. I think that’s what happens when you run a fever for days on end and the thermometer is hitting triple digits both inside and out (do you like how I am justifying this?).

Seriously people, I am feeling pretty good right now. Your healing mojo is totally working its magic (and the A/C is adding its own special touch, too)…

    :)

  • short shameful confession #2

For the first time in more than 30 years, I left the house this morning without changing my underwear.

SSC #2.2: Due to a sleeping pill that I took last night and my new-found skill at turning off my alarm w/o waking up, I didn’t open my eyes until 9:01 am. And I had a lecture hall full of students and a colleague waiting for me two blocks away for 9:00 class.

SSC #2.3: I drove the two blocks to school and parked illegally in front of the classroom building.

Favorite concert ever was seeing John Denver at the Greek Amphitheater. John, Mom, and I had cheap seats and were at the top with no one else around us (I guess everyone else was either richer than us or was willing to jump to an open seat lower down).

I sang at the top of my lungs, every word of every song (even though JD asked us to stick to the choruses).
(Note: H/T to Caroline for inspiring this post)

  • embarrassing

What’s your most embarrassing moment? I like to tell John’s, but today I’ll offer a few of my own…

–discovering a hole in the crotch of my pants just after I got home from meeting and spending the day with my boyfriend-at-the-time’s parents.

–realizing that the yellow stripe across the chest of my favorite swimsuit was completely see-through when wet (this, after having worn the suit for a couple of years).

–putting in a swimsuit off of the clothesline at summer camp and realizing a few moments later (in front of fellow campers) that there is a large moth in the crotch of said swimuit. [Note: not the swimsuit with the yellow stripe, in case you were wondering]

–the day I walked out of the house with an American cheese slice stuck to the seat of pants (placed there by my ever-so-loving toddler daughter). Also, a similar incident with a large (like 5″ square) Pokemon sticker on my back.
