things that make me lose control…
make me smile

things that make me lose control…

written by Jana March 16, 2006

–cookies. can’t. stop. eating. cookies. esp soft sugar cookies.
–massage me and i am yours.
–rubbing the soft fur of cat belly as time goes by.
–getting out of the shower and i don’t have anywhere to go. warm and completely contented, i lay down on the bed for just a moment. and wake up an hour later. bliss.
–the blossoms of the satsuma tree on my front porch. inhaling deeply as i walk past. doubling back for a second sniff.
–dropping off my kids at school this morning. as they turn their back on me and melt into the crowd, the overwhelming urge to chase after them and say one more time, ‘i love you.’

It’s girl scout thin mint season, and I am out of control too. I can eat a whole box in one sitting…

About Me

About Me

Hi there friend, and welcome to my blog. I started writing on the internet two decades ago. Since then I've started and finished a PhD program, left the Mormon church and became a Quaker, got divorced, remarried, found full-time work in academia, took up rock climbing and outrigger canoeing, and traveled across the globe (China! Belgium! Italy! Chicago! Montana! Portland! Gettysburg! and oh-so-many points in-between). This blog is eclectic and random--it has poetry and cooking and books. And cats. And flowers. And the ocean (my ocean). But in that sense it's a good reflection of me and my wide-ranging, far-reaching, magpie curiosity.
